AUSTRALIA CONVINCING WINNERS OVER NEW ZEALAND AT SANCTUARY COVE
Australian team captain Geoff Davey was a proud man as he led his 12 man team of Australia's best senior amateur golfers against the best from New Zealand and then beat them convincingly.

Davey had begun this international match confident that the green and gold shirts of Australia would be victors over the silver ferns but did reveal he was surprised at the final margin that saw Australia commanding winners by 19 matches to 5.

Davey also commented that the margin was not a true indication of the difference between the two teams as many of the tight matches went the way of the local Australian team.

In his victory speech Captain Geoff paid special thanks to the 24 volunteer caddies from Sanctuary Cove Golf Club and the whole golf club management team. "Absolutely nothing was left undone in what was a fantastic tournament" said Davey, "it is hard to imagine what else could have possibly been done".

    The Australian team had been selected using the top 10 positions on the Australian Senior Order of Merit at the completion of the 2007 Australian Senior Championship. Two captain's picks were added to make up the twelve man team.

    The captain of the Titirangi Golf Club made the trip over for this tournament and at the presentation dinner was proud to announce that the Titirangi Golf Club will host the event in 2008. The dates have been set as February 18-20, 2008 and soon after many of the Australian players were discussing how many Order of Merit points would be needed to make the team.
