Graham Blizard Whirlwind Win
at Lake Karrinyup Golf Club

After many years at Melville Glades Golf Club the Australian Senior Ranking Secondary level event in West Australia moved to the beautiful Lake Karrinyup course.

A quality field of local senior golfers entered the event with a good number of interstate players also competing.

In quite an amazing performance NSW senior Graham Blizard has won the inaugural Lake Karrinyup Senior Amateur. Blizard had rounds of 73 and 70 to finish one under par and a winning margin of five strokes from Queenslander Col Hallam (76-72). Local member and WA senior star Alex Cleave was third (75-77).

Blizard arrived from the east coast on Sunday morning and went straight to the Lake Karrinyup Golf Club. He had never seen the course before but jumped to four under par after eight holes before finishing with 73. On Monday he used his newly found course knowledge to break par with a round of 70 and claim the trophy. He then went straight to the airport to catch the plane home. A real whirlwind visit from Blizard!

In three senior events Blizard has now recorded two wins and a second place. Earlier this year he won the NSW Senior Classic at The Lakes and The Australian Golf Clubs and soon after followed with a second place (just one stroke from the winner) in the 2012 NSW Senior Amateur Championship. Perhaps Blizard will now be the player to challenge Australia's current number one senior Stefan Albinski who has ruled almost unchallenged for several years.
