Round Three Report:
A new super star has emerged in Australian Senior Amateur golf. In winning the 2012 National Senior Masters, NSW and Twin Creeks GC member Graham Blizard took his record to three titles from four starts (and he was one stroke from the winners in the NSW Seniors). Blizard played with great control and confidence on all three of the testing National courses and his scores of 72-78-72=222 gave him a five stroke victory.
Runner up was fellow Twin Creeks Golf Club member Greg Corben (79-71-77=227). Corben started the fina lround very well and established an early lead but Blizard's golf was high class with his power and touch best demonstrated on the final hole where his drive-9 iron to the 400 metre hole amazed the crowd of seniors golfers. He was a deserved winner of the much coveted Masters green jacket.
Third place went to the regular top performer, West Australian Ian McPherson (73-81-76=230) with fourth place belonging to South Australia's top senior John Beaumont (73-79-78=231). NSW senior Roy Vandersluis (77-74-81=232) had yet another top five finish while popular Victorian Alan Buckley showed a glimpse of his previous top class form with an easy win in the 54 hole net championship.

It was another pleasant day with even stronger wind to test the field on the Moonah course. Corben's 71 included three birdies and two bogies. Fellow NSW golfer Roy Vandersluis (77-74) is just one stroke away with the final group member John Beaumont (73-79) also close enough to easily claim the title.

In interesting news a guest speaker has been arranged for the dinner on Wednesday evening - the guest is Doctor Mark Rogers.
Dr. Rogers approach begins by taking pictures of a patient with a thermo-imaging camera, much like the hot-spot technology used in cricket to show whether the ball has made contact with the bat. "We can actually visualise the pain, show them where their pain is and then find the injury and actually be precise about where they've hurt themselves" he explained.
"That's where the cold lasers come in, targetting the soft tissue deep in the problem areas and stimulating the production of collagen cells which assist the healing process. "
Sounds like a very interesting night.
