2012 REPORT: Greg Corben Wins by 6 Strokes
Greg Corben (Twin Creeks) has gone wire to wire to win the 2011 Senior Men's Amateur Championship at the Southport Golf Club.

Corben was a model of consistency throughout the three-day tournament with rounds of 72, 74 and 73 to win by six shots.
Corben's third round got off to a perfect start after an early birdie on the second hole, but that would be his last, his large lead allowed him still have a few late bogies to finish 2-over par for the day.
Roy Vandersluis (The Lakes) found himself in the final group after a consistent second round of 74 (+3) to join his first round of 75 (+4) . Although Vandersluis was unable to put any pressure on the leader his final round of 5-over par (76) was enough to finish in outright second place.
Defending Champion John Beaumont (Mt Gambier) was unable to maintain his form from the first and second rounds, finishing out the tournament with a third round 8-over par (79).
Robert Lewis (Windsor) has won the Nett Championship on a count back with nett scores of 71, 68, 70 to finish four shots better than his handicap. The Nett Runner up trophy went to Joseph Scopacasa (The Grange) after he had nett rounds 69, 70 and 70.
National member Paul Lulofs aged 71 was the only player to shoot under par over the tournament after a solid one under-par round of 70 today. Lulofs round produce the rare accomplishment of a player shooting less than his age in a State Senior Championship event.
In the Teams Championship The National Golf Club players of John Wheeler, Adrian Barr, Paul Lulofs and Michal Holloway have won the nett aggregate event by only two shots over the Lake s Golf Club.
Congratulations must go to the course superintendant Stuart Moore and staff for their efforts in presenting Southport Golf Club in pristine Championship condition over the past three days

Mike Dunn (Logan City) is leading the Nett Championship after back to back nett 69’s. Dunn’s consistent second round showed he did not use up all of his luck in round one when he managed to Ace the 127 meter par-3 seventh hole.

Southport Golf Club - a picturesque course
The defending champion from 2010 is South Australia's John Beaumont after a very exciting victory at the Carbrook Golf Club.
The Queensland Senior Amateur was last played at Southport Golf Club in 2007 when NSW Brian Sams was the winner. Unfortunately Sams is "out injured" at present and will be unable to defend his Southport title.
