Round Three Report:
ACT champion senior golfer Bill Banks has won the 2012 ACT Senior Amateur Championship. Banks was the most consistent player over three rounds on three different courses returning scores of 74 at Golf Creek, 70 at Capital and 74 at Murrumbidgee Golf Club for a 54 hole total of 218. Banks has won many state senior titles in a marvelous career but this was the first time he has won the ACT title.
Second place was a tie between the defending champion Denis Dale (75-73-73=221) and Australia’s top ranked senior Stefan Albinski (70-76-75=221). In missing the major prize it was a missed opportunity for Albinski who has not won this title before.
The net championship was won by Brad Doolan (net scores of 71-68-71=210) who had a one stroke victory over Orange senior John Dubois (68-70-73=211) with Denis Dale (72-70-70=212) in third place. This trio now hold the early lead in the new season long net competition for all senior golfers playing in Australian Senior Ranking events.

Round Two Report:
Round Two of the 2012 ACT Senior Amateur Championship was played today at the Capital Golf Club in Canberra. Capital is a public golf course but definitely a very enjoyable game of golf with an emphasis on straight driving from the tee. The fairways are well grassed and the tees quite lush. The slower paced greens also offered a new challenge to the field of senior golfers .
The new leader is ACT senior Bill Banks (74-70) who was the only player to handle the tight fairways and pace of the greens shooting a fine score of one over par 70. His 36 hole total of 144 gives him a two stroke lead over round one leader Stefan Albinski (70-76) who struggled today for a seven over par score of 76. He will need to find his normal high quality game if he is to pass the very consistent Banks.
Third place is shared by NSW seniors Denis Dale (75-73) and Russell Roger (75-73). They have a single stroke advantage over Roy Vandersluis (77-72) and Brad Doolan (76-73). It would take a super round from any other golfers to claim the 2011 championship.
The championship continues with the final round at Murrumbidgee Golf Club tomorrow.

144 Bill BANKS ACT 74 - 70

152 Geoff ASHBY NSW 80 - 72
152 Ross REES ACT 76 - 76 Round One Report:
The 2012 ACT Senior Amateur Championship began today with the first eighteen holes at Gold Creek Golf Club. In his quest to win one of just two state or territory senior championships that he has not already won Mona Vale golfer Stefan Albinski has already opened a 4 stroke lead. (The other event he has not won is the NSW Senior Amateur).
Albinski fired a great round of two under par 70 on the beautifully presented Gold Creek course. As usual Albinski putted well and also chipped in to go close to taming this championship course. Evergreen ACT senior Bill Banks is in second place after a steady round of 74. Third place is shared by a group of five experienced seniors on three over par 75 – Denis Dale, Paul Harvey-Walker, John Dubois, Keith Thornley and Russell Rogers.
The championship continues with the second round at Capital Golf Club tomorrow.
